NP Von Heuvel was born and raised in Rockport, Texas. After finishing high school she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Then she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Audie Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital on the spinal cord injury, telemetry, med surge, and oncology floors.  She was recruited by Marriott Senior Living Services and was the Director of Health Services for the Forum at Lincoln Heights in San Antonio Texas. She assisted the company with corporate level employee training and policy procedure development. She decided to venture into the realm of providing clinical services as an Advanced Practice Nurse so she completed her Masters in Adult Health Certified Nurse Specialist at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly after she began to pursue her Post Graduate Studies as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, Texas. She trained with physicians in Family Practice, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Hospice, Rehabilitation Medicine, Dialysis, Wound Care, and Medical House Calls.

She has successfully opened hospices, home health agencies, and nursing homes from the ground floor up and obtained Medicare certifications for these operations in San Antonio and Houston Texas. She owned and operated an independent practice providing Geriatric Medical House Calls to patients in their private homes, retirement communities, and skilled nursing facilities in Fort Worth Texas.  Most recently, prior to marrying and moving to Katy Texas, she owned and operated her Independent Practice providing primary care to patients aged 50 and over for a period of 6 years in Rockport and Portland Texas.

It is through these experiences that NP Von Heuvel came to realize that the role of the primary care provider is to first offer preventative healthcare to promote optimal physical and emotional function, second to educate patients and caregivers about their health issues, and finally to offer coordination of services with other specialist and healthcare providers in order to promote true continuity of care.  The ultimate goal being to maintain the highest possible level of independence with the least amount of pharmaceutical intervention.

She is a proud Wife and Mother of a beautiful daughter and strives to be a positive role model and community leader.
